Let’s face it. I’m a humorous motivational speaker by profession. I talk for a living. And it turns out I may have selected the exact right profession for someone like me – a woman.
TODAY‘s show host, David Gregory remarked recently that someone once accused him of talking a hole in their head because apparently, he’s a very talkative man. But it seems he is the exception, not the rule. Researchers tells us that (generally speaking) women use around 20,000 per words per day while men use around 7,000. And now, believe it or not, they appear to have a biological reason for it.
A recent study at the University of Maryland School of Medicine found that women’s brains have a higher level of a “language protein” called FOXP2.
Oh this is very, very VERY good news for me. And if you are a woman who likes to talk, then it should be as well for you.
From now on, if anyone accuses you of talking too much, you can now happily respond (and I do mean happily – like with a big smile on your face) with the following:
“Oh I know! I do, right? And you know why? Well, it turns out that according the University of Maryland School of Medicine my brain is chock full of this really cool ‘language protein’ called FOXP2! Isn’t that cool! Now, back to what I was saying…”
Women. You gotta love us.
From your funny motivational speaker, Linda Larsen, overflowing with FOXP2
